Premier Dentistry was legally established under BSJC LLC, on March 27, 2017. Founding officers, CEO Jongsung Kim, and CFO, Joanne Kim began searching for the perfect site for the new clinic and settled on the current location in the ACC Building: 692 North Marine Corps Drive Suite 301, in Upper Tumon. Build-out of the clinic began in April of the same year, and clinic staff (one auxiliary, one assistant, one receptionist, one back-office worker, and two dental hygienists) was procured by the end of August. On September 11, 2020, the clinic staff all reported for duty to help organize and prepare the clinic for opening. A soft opening took place on September 25, 2017, and a Grand Opening Reception was held Sunday, October 1, 2017 with more than 100 visitors and well-wishers.
Premier Dentistry hired a part-time pediatric dentist, in October, 2017, who stayed on for almost one year, before moving on and opening her own practice. Premier Dentistry also hired a part-time general dentist, in November, 2017, who worked with us until February, 2020. She, too, has moved on to open her own practice. Premier Dentistry added a part-time periodontist in October, 2018, who has switched to full time as of June 2021. We also have a new full-time General Dentist, who joined the PD family in November 2021. As the clinic’s reputation and patient pool continued to grow, additional assistants and office staff were added, and a full-time clinic manager was hired in June, 2018. As of January 2021, including a part-time outsourced cleaning team, Premier Dentistry is 30-members strong.
Premier Dentistry began with big dreams—opening a 10-chair clinic from scratch, with a zero-patient pool, is no small undertaking. But from the beginning, the hard work and sincerity of the founders and the clinic staff were rewarded. God blessed the clinic from Day One, and there has been no looking back.
Mission Statement
Premier Dentistry’s mission is to provide the best quality dental care in a safe and soothing environment, with exceptional service from check-in to check-out. In order to uphold this mission, the administration prioritizes the proper training of all staff, and the maintenance of all equipment and facilities. Clinical staff maintain their credentials with necessary continuing education courses as well as supplemental courses, as mandated by the administration. Office staff are trained to be professional and courteous in all their dealings with patients and/or their guardians. All Premier Dentistry employees are certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), with biennial updates to certification. Cleanliness is of utmost importance, and sanitation measures are taken throughout the day and a full top-to-bottom cleaning takes place at the end of each work day. In addition to the normal high standards of sanitation, with the onset of the COVID crisis,
Premier Dentistry has added hospital-grade air purifiers and implemented the daily use of electrostatic sprayers. Our office is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, offering our patients the latest in technological advances, including, but not limited to: CBCT 3-D imaging, portable x-ray units, microscopic procedures, oral & nitrous sedation, laser whitening, and contemporary implant procedures. We are constantly reviewing the availability of technological upgrades to maintain our equipment at peak performance.
Objectives/Goals
Premier Dentistry is not your typical dental clinic. The primary incentive of the founders is not financial in nature, but humanitarian—to provide a necessary service to the local community and beyond, and to provide a comfortable, living wage for its staff. To this effect, Premier Dentistry regularly commits up to 20% of its monthly production to pro bono work, for those with limited or no means to pay for treatment.
Premier Dentistry offers our employees a competitive living wage, with regular pay raises, exceptional benefits, and full, free in-house dental coverage for all eligible employees and their immediate families. The clinic also distributes bonuses liberally throughout the year as well as allocating funds for profit-sharing contributions through the Premier Dentistry 401(k) retirement plan.
In line with the founders’ central Christian tenets and work ethic, Premier Dentistry chooses to dedicate a portion of their annual profits to worthy causes, both local and overseas. Premier Dentistry generously donates to PBS Guam, homeless charities and food missions on a regular basis throughout the year. The Biblical premise that we need to care for those less fortunate also includes an annual mission trip to provide funds and dental care to underserved populations, while offering all of our clinic staff the opportunity to serve while enjoying a new cultural experience each year. Because Premier Dentistry values each employee and considers him/her a member of the extended family, as a means of showing our appreciation for a year’s worth of hard work, Premier Dentistry prepares an annual holiday party with generous gifts for each staff member. We also conduct regular team-building events such overnight hotel retreats, water activities, bowling, etc. as a way to encourage rest and recreation as well as a family spirit among our staff. Not only is it a time to enjoy each other’s company and share in gift-giving, it is a time to give thanks to our Lord for His care and Providence during the previous year.
